About the Artist - Sylvia Pixley
Sylvia Pixley is an award winning artist who has worked in wood block
reduction block prints and is now primarily working in wood engravings.
Her themes most often deal with the beauty of nature with subjects
ranging from intimate portraits of flowers, small animals and birds to
tranquil wooded settings and grand landscapes. She is based in Monroe Michigan.
Sylvia received formal training in art at the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She has been working as a professional artist for over 20 years.
She has current work in these galleries: Ann Arbor Art Center, Toledo Museum of Art's Collector's Corner, and the River Gallery in Chelsea, MI.
Her work can be found in these public collections: Monroe County Community College Collection (MI): Saginaw Valley State College Art Collection (MI),; Minnesota Center for Books Arts, Mineapolis, MN,; Princeton University Library in NJ as part of WEN archive, Monroe County Library System's Art in Loan Collection Ellis branch, Monroe County Bedford Library's Collection; Glenbow Museum, Ontario Canada.
She has appeared in art fairs around the country, and is a long time favorite at the prestigious Michigan Guild sponsored Ann Arbor Art Festival in July. She can be found on Main Street close to the corner of Liberty Street.
Sylvia is active in the Wood Engraver's Network, serving as it's treasurer. She is also a member of Michigan Guild of Artists and Artisans in Ann
Arbor MI; Toledo Museum of Art in Toledo OH, and the Ann Arbor Art
Center, in Ann Arbor MI.
